Electricity Update
June 2025 is finally here. The 800% increase in capacity that we’ve warned about has arrived.
ComEd’s price total is .107. This is an increase, from the prior month’s total of .06872. ComEd’s total price of .107 includes the base electricity charge, the capacity charge, and the personal electricity adjustment price. The personal electricity adjustment price changes each month. It can be a credit or a debit each month.
The personal electricity adjustment price is released a couple weeks before the next month. The
personal electricity adjustment price only applies to ComEd customers, receiving their electric supply from ComEd.
In supplier pricing, the fixed price includes, among other things, the base electricity charge and
the capacity charge. There is no personal adjustment price. This helps protect your business from
unforeseen charges. Every month, you know what your electricity price will be.
The only changing price you have to worry about is the delivery charge. ComEd will charge
delivery fees, whether or not you’re on supplier pricing or on ComEd. Delivery charges are the actual
costs it takes to supply the electricity to your building.
In the next couple of years, prices are predicted to rise. The issues facing PJM, the grid supplier
for Illinois, are not likely to be alleviated within the next year. PJM even predicted record energy
production this summer. 1 PJM has stated that it has enough energy, in backup reserves, to meet the
demand. However, it did not rule out that power outages may be in the future, if demand does not
wane.
A new capacity auction, for the 2026-2027 year will be held in July. At that time, the new
capacity numbers for the coming year will be set. Caps have been instituted, to help alleviate capacity prices for this auction. 2 However, prices are forecasted to be higher for the 2026-2027 year.
Now would be a great time to lock in a fixed price, for your commercial business. Prices have
risen in every area of business. Don’t let electricity be one of those uncontrollable increases. We, here at LBE, Ltd. are Illinois licensed energy brokers. We are not licensed in other states because we specialize in the Illinois market. We care about our fellow Illinoisans.

Natural Gas Update
As of mid June, natural gas prices are currently bullish. This is due to rising temperatures and
slight production declines. 3 The escalating situation with Iran has also put strain on the natural gas
market, as investors anticipate a possible slowdown in gas production in the Middle East.
Locally, here in Illinois, these have been the natural gas index rates:
The average Nicor natural gas price, this year, has been .44.
The average Peoples gas price has been .4672.
